May 27 every year is a day set aside in Nigeria to celebrate, cherish, love and appreciate children across the federation, regrettably this year’s open celebration has been affected by Covid-19 global pandemic.

In his goodwill message to mark the 2020 Children’s Day, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Ozonkpu (Dr.) Victor Ike Oye enjoined parents, guardians and religious bodies to cater for the welfare of children by providing the prerequisite home training, moral instructions needed to make them useful to themselves, families, and society at large.

Ozonkpu Oye who described children as heritage from God appealed to those concerned to work hard in nurturing and training children in a way that would benefit humanity as well as glorify the name of God.

The APGA national chairman while celebrating our children, admonished them to be respectful, obedient and also take their studies seriously, noting that it was only through quality education, good conduct and sound morals that they could attain their full potentialities.

Ozonkpu Oye called on the government at all levels to come up with children-friendly policies that would equip the children and wards for future challenges.

‘Government should provide basic amenities and infrastructure to take care of Nigerian children and to enable them to compete favourably with their peers globally.
Parents should also monitor environment and health of their children owing to the coronavirus pandemic by making sure that all the health care safety measures announced by the federal and state government and also the national centre for the disease control NCDC are observed by their children.

He prayed God to protect children from harm and from Covid-19 global pandemic which has kept our children at home for months and has impeded the celebration of this years children’s day celebration.

#StaySafe
#COVID-19 is real.
